| Information for Graduates |
| |
| The Commencement Exercises for the Spring 2008 Semester will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2008. Please refer to the Commencement Schedule for location. |

Grad Expo |
| |
| Grad Expo is March 5, 2008 from 10:00 am - 5:30 pm at the UL Lafayette Alumni Center. At the Expo graduates can order personalized graduation announcements, order your cap & gown, order your UL Lafayette class ring, speak with Alumni representatives about a FREE one-year membership to the UL Lafayette Alumni Association, and have your picture taken in a cap & gown by a professional photographer. There will be free beverages and lunch from 11 am - 1 pm. |

| Assembly of Graduates |
| |
| Candidates for degree should be in the assembly area to organize for the procession on or before the prescribed time as listed in the graduate information received from each department. If it is less than 30 days until commencement and you have not received the information or you have questions, please contact your dean's office. |

| Graduation in Absentia |
| |
| Attendance at Commencement is required. Only candidates who have applied in writing and received, from the appropriate academic dean, a waiver of this requirement will have their degree conferred in absentia. |

| Cap and Gown Orders |
| |
| All graduates are required to wear the University approved Cap
and Gown sold in the UL Lafayette Bookstore.
You will not be permitted to participate in the commencement
ceremonies without the proper attire. Orders for the purchase
of caps, gowns, and master's and doctoral hoods must be placed
with the UL Lafayette Bookstore no later than March
5, 2008 (order blank enclosed; payment must accompany
order). Information for graduates will be mailed to the local
address listed on the Application for Degree during the
week of February
18, 2008.
Candidates may pick up caps and gowns at the Bookstore
beginning Monday,
May 12, 2008 thru 10:00 am, Friday, May 23, 2008. |

| Graduation Invitations and Class Ring |
| |
| Orders for invitations should be placed with the UL Lafayette Bookstore as soon as possible. Candidates who are unable to go to the Bookstore in person should make special arrangements for handling by mail. Orders for class rings may be placed with the Bookstore at any time. |

| Appropriate Dress |
| |
| Commencement is an academic event and all participants are required to dress appropriately. All graduates are required to wear the University approved Cap and Gown (See above for ordering information). Dark clothing and shoes are recommended; this will coordinate with the black academic gown. The appropriate cap for all degrees is the familiar black "mortarboard." The tassel should hang to the left of the face and the mortarboard is worn straight on the head with the point of the cap in the center of the forehead. |
