Where is UL Lafayette located?
 
  UL Lafayette is situated in Lafayette, which has a population of over 100,000 residents. Lafayette is the heart of Cajun Country, an area of south central Louisiana settled by French exiles from Nova Scotia. The Cajun culture is characterized by its joie de vivre, or joy of life, and those who adopt the Cajun lifestyle typically work hard and play hard. Festivals held throughout the year provide an excellent arena for cultural celebration. Springtime in Lafayette is the season for the Festival International de Louisianne, the festival that features musicians from French speaking countries around the world. At UL Lafayette, you can experience a similar joie de vivre!

  UL Lafayette is home to just over 17,000 students, including 1,511 graduate students.
 
What is the size of the freshman class?
 
  The freshman class of 2005 was 2,938.
 
From where does UL Lafayette's student body come?
 
  Students attend UL Lafayette from throughout Louisiana, nearly all 50 states and 100 foreign countries.
 
What programs does the university offer?

What is the average class size and student teacher ratio?
 
  UL Lafayette offers class sizes to meet many different academic needs. Sizes range from ten to two hundred depending on the class, academic level, and professor. In most cases, the student can choose the class size that best meets his or her individual needs.
 
Does UL Lafayette have an honors program?
 
  YES! The program provides serious and highly motivated undergraduate students with a set of educational opportunities to those who seek added dimension, enrichment, and challenge in their studies. Entering freshmen with an ACT composite of 26 or greater (SAT 1170+) will receive an invitation to enter the UL Lafayette Honors Program. What ROTC programs does UL Lafayette offer?
 
  UL Lafayette offers the ARMY ROTC program. The program offers leadership and military skills training. Students graduate from UL Lafayette and the ROTC program fully prepared for officer responsibilities in the active Army, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard. How can I earn advanced placement (AP) credit?
 
  UL Lafayette recognizes several Advanced Placement programs which can be found listed on the Office of Orientation's website. Special regulations apply in each program; call (337) 482-1391 for more details and information.
 
How do I transfer to UL Lafayette and will my credits transfer?
 
  Students who wish to transfer to UL Lafayette must submit an application for admission, an official copy of all previous college transcripts mailed by the university, and immunization records. If less than 3 credits of freshman English and math were earned, also submit ACT/SAT scores. Credits are evaluated by individual departments and are accepted if they are applicable toward UL Lafayette's curriculum in a particular subject and if the grades are satisfactory. Does UL Lafayette require ACT or SAT scores for admission?
 
  YES! UL Lafayette has selective admissions criteria that includes a minimum ACT/SAT score. Click here for our admission requirements.
 
Does UL Lafayette require the ACT writing sample?
 
  No. UL Lafayette does not require the ACT writing sample. We have our own in-house diagnostic essay in place in all freshman English classes. It is given on the first day of class. We use that essay to place students into the appropriate freshman English class.
 
What extracurricular or academic activities can I participate in as a UL Lafayette student?
 
  UL Lafayette offers over 150 organizations where you can take a brief break from your courses. These organizations give you the opportunity to meet other people and explore new avenues. You will find an organization to suit your interest in the following areas: government, athletics, music and the arts, radio broadcasting and written publications, religious affiliations, Greek life, and all academic majors. Even better, you can start your own organization if you don't find one that suits your interests.
