Applying to be an Undergraduate Student
 
 
First-Time Freshmen
 
Students who would like to enter UL Lafayette as first-time freshmen are required to submit the following to UL Lafayette Office of Admissions, PO Box 41210, Lafayette, LA 70504 to be considered for admission:
 
  • Application Fee. There is a $25.00 non-refundable application fee. Application processing WILL NOT begin until payment is received. Payment can be submitted in the online application in the form of credit card (Mastercard, Discover, and American Express) or electronic check. Check or money order (NO CASH) are accepted via mail. Applications or application fees received beyond the priority processing dates will incur an additional $25.00 late application charge.
  • Official ACT or SAT Scores. If the student does not have scores on file at UL Lafayette, the student must request official ACT/SAT scores from: ACT or SAT or from his/her high school or provide a copy of his/her original scores to the Admissions Office. UL Lafayette's ACT Test Code is 1612 and SAT Test Code is 6672.

    If the student has never taken the ACT/SAT exam, he/she may be eligible to take ACT residual exam administered on the UL Lafayette campus.
  • Immunization Form. It is mandatory that all new students show proof of immunization for measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (whooping cough), poliomyelitis, hemophilus influenzae type B, and meningococcal meningitis. Please complete and submit the Immunization Form to the Office of Admissions.
  • Selective Service Registration. Male students who are 18 years or older are required to show proof of selective service registration. Registration verification can be printed from this website: www.sss.gov.
  • High School Transcript*. First-time freshmen applicants may submit a sixth or seventh semester transcript for initial admission and scholarship consideration. A final transcript showing graduation date and grade point average must be received prior to enrollment. Unaccredited Louisiana High School graduates, GED recipients, and Home Study graduates must submit official proof of graduation or bring original diploma to the Office of Admissions.
*Nearly all Louisiana high schools participate in the Louisiana Department of Education Student Transcript System (STS). If you attend high school in Louisiana and your school participates in this program, we will be able to access your high school record electronically and you will not need to send a paper transcript.

Adult Admission
 
To be considered for admission as a 25 Plus Adult student, submit the following to UL Lafayette Office of Admissions, PO Box 41210, Lafayette, LA 70504:
 
  • Application Fee. There is a $25.00 non-refundable application fee. Application processing WILL NOT begin until payment is received. Payment can be submitted in the online application in the form of credit card (Mastercard, Discover, and American Express) or electronic check. Check or money order (NO CASH) are accepted via mail. Applications or application fees received beyond the priority processing dates will incur an additional $25.00 late application charge.
  • Official ACT or SAT Scores. If the student does not have scores on file at UL Lafayette, the student must request official ACT/SAT scores from: ACT or SAT or from his/her high school or provide a copy of his/her original scores to the Admissions Office.   • High School Transcript. A final transcript showing graduation date and grade point average must be received prior to enrollment. Transfer Students
 
To be considered for admission as a transfer student, submit the following to UL Lafayette Office of Admissions, PO Box 41210, Lafayette, LA 70504:
 
  • Application Fee. There is a $25.00 non-refundable application fee. Application processing WILL NOT begin until payment is received. Payment can be submitted in the online application in the form of credit card (Mastercard, Discover, and American Express) or electronic check. Check or money order (NO CASH) are accepted via mail. Applications or application fees received beyond the priority processing dates will incur an additional $25.00 late application charge.
  • College Transcripts. Transfer students must contact each collegiate institution attended and request an official transcript be mailed directly to the Office of Admissions. If you are currently attending a university, we encourage a partial record to determine initial eligibility. Submit a final official transcript upon completion of any classes currently attending. Please send the Request for Transcript of Credits Form (PDF) to each institution when requesting transcripts to be sent to UL Lafayette. Official transcripts are mailed directly from the institution to UL Lafayette. Hand carried copies/transcripts are not considered official.
  • Immunization Form. Re-Entry Students
 
By definition, a re-entry student is a student who has not attended another collegiate institution since last attending UL Lafayette. Applicants for re-entry to UL Lafayette must submit the following items to UL Lafayette Office of Admissions, PO Box 41210, Lafayette, LA 70504 after one or more regular semester(s) of nonattendance at UL Lafayette:

Frequently Asked Questions for International Students
 
To be considered for admission as an international student, submit the following to UL Lafayette Office of Admissions, PO Box 41210, Lafayette, LA 70504:
 
  • Application Fee. There is a $30.00 non-refundable application fee. Application processing WILL NOT begin until payment is received. Payment can be submitted in the online application in the form of credit card (Mastercard, Discover, and American Express) or electronic check. Note: All international applicants are encouraged to submit the admission application and application fee by the international application deadlines. A $25.00 late application charge will be added for applications and/or application fees received beyond the following dates: Summer--April 30, Fall--June 30, and Spring--November 30.
  • Completed Financial Statement. All International applicants must submit a completed Confidential Financial Guarantee and matching current bank statement if they wish to be admitted to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. This form provides evidence of the applicant's ability to pay all required educational and living costs. The Confidential Financial Information Form and bank statement must be on file with the Admissions Office at UL Lafayette before an I-20 or DS-2019 can be issued. This is not required for United States citizens or applicants with permanent resident status. J-1 students must complete the Confidential Financial Guarantee for J-1 (Visiting) Students and provide a matching bank statement.

  • Chronological Record of Education. All degree-seeking international students must complete the Chronological Record of Education Form as part of the admissions process. This form is a summary of all of a student's academic pursuits including, but not limited to, all schools ever attended, classes taken, certificates earned, examinations passed, and graduations. Academic coursework that is ‘in-progress' must also be included.
  • English Language Proficiency Exam (TOEFL or IELTS)
    • An official TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, or ACT score report is needed in order to determine English proficiency. An official score report must be mailed directly from the testing service. All international applicants, including native speakers of English, are required to provide evidence of English proficiency. The score code for UL-Lafayette is 6672.
    • TOEFL Scores. Original results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum score of 525 paper based, 195 computer based, or 71 internet based is needed for admission.
    • IELTS Scores. Original results of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). A minimum score of 6.0 is needed for admission. NOTE: UL Lafayette will require an IELTS score of 6.5 effective Summer 2013.
    • Freshmen applicants from countries where English is the official language (U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Canada (except Quebec), and some Caribbean countries) must provide SAT or ACT scores rather than TOEFL or IELTS scores.
  • Immunization Records. It is mandatory that all new students show proof of immunization for measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (whooping cough), poliomyelitis, hemophilus influenzae type B, and meningococcal meningitis. Please complete and submit the Immunization Form for the application process and submit all your medical documents to the Office of Admissions by the deadline date (below) for the semester in which you are seeking admission.
 
Translation and Evaluation of Transcripts

Official English translations must be provided. Translators must be certified by the American Translators Association. For a list of members, visit www.atanet.org. Evaluations of transcripts are also accepted if the evaluating service is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. For a list of members, visit www.naces.org.
  • First-Time Freshmen (Have not attended a post-secondary institution)
    • Submit official or certified true copies of all secondary academic records, transcripts, notes, and/or mark sheets from foreign institutions and U.S. schools, if applicable.
    • See Secondary Credentials for International Freshmen in order to determine the required credential for admission (listed by country).
  • Reentry (Have previously attended UL Lafayette)
    • Submit an updated Confidential Financial Guarantee and matching bank statement.
    • If you have attended another institution after attending UL Lafayette, please follow the requirements for transfer students.
  • Transfer Students (Have attended a post-secondary institution)
    • Submit official or certified true copies of all post-secondary academic records, transcripts, notes and/or mark sheets from foreign institutions and U.S. schools, if applicable. A course program syllabus should accompany the records from foreign institution(s).
    • If you are transferring from a U.S. institution, you must submit an International Student Transfer Form in order to get your I-20 transferred to UL Lafayette.
    • NOTE: The appropriate letter of admission and visa form will be issued only after all credentials have been received, and the applicant has been admitted to the University.
  • J-1/Visiting Students (Plan to return to home institution)
    • Submit official or certified true copies of all post-secondary academic records, transcripts, notes and/or mark sheets from foreign institutions and U.S. schools, if applicable. A course program syllabus should accompany the records from foreign institution(s).
    • Submit English Proficiency scores (TOEFL, IELTS, ACT, or SAT). An official score report should be sent directly from the testing service.
    • If you are planning to take classes at UL, please click here to apply online. Indicate ‘J-1' on the VISA TYPE field and select ‘Non-Degree Seeking' code ‘7004' (Visiting Student). Also, complete the J-1 Visitor Application Packet and submit the packet, transcripts, and test scores to meganl@louisiana.edu or UL Lafayette Office of Admissions, P.O. Box 41210, Lafayette, LA 70504.
    • If you are NOT planning on taking classing at UL, please complete the J-1 Visitor Application Packet and submit the packet, transcripts, and test scores to oia@louisiana.edu or UL Lafayette Office of International Affairs, P.O. Box 43932, Lafayette, LA 70504.

International Student Deadlines:
 
  • Fall Semester- June 1
  • Spring Semester- October 1
  • Summer Semester- March 1
 
Priority will be given to all applicants with complete requirements received by the stipulated deadlines. The deadlines will apply to all international applicants whether they are currently residing inside or outside of the United States.

Important Information for International Students
 
Effective 1 September 2004, international students (F-1 and J-1 visa applicants) applying for admission to a U.S. institution are required to pay a SEVIS I-901 fee of $100.00 US to the United States Department of Homeland Security.

  1. must be admitted to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and
