The Student Union was built in 1971 and serves as the focal point of student activities and all programming is done by the University Program Council housed on the second floor. UL Lafayette's University Bookstore is located here, as well as the Bayou Bijou movie theater; Housing department offices; Gumbo U (office for registration of leisure learning classes), and several restaurants.
