H.L. Griffin Hall

The offices and classrooms for English, History, Geography, Philosophy, and Modern Languages are in H.L. Griffin Hall. The hall also contains the Humanities Resource Center, Writing Center, and Language Lab. H.L. Griffin was built in 1972 as the Liberal Arts building. It was named for Harry L. Griffin, who worked at UL Lafayette for 39 years. For 30 of those years, he was dean of the College of Liberal Arts. Griffin came to UL Lafayette in 1912 as a professor of history and political science. He helped start the popular Camellia Pageant and wrote a history of the City of Lafayette.
